Top Albums of 2K10 – #14, #13

First Off….if you are reading this my site has moved here

Local Natives – Gorilla Manor

This album came out of nowhere for me. I’d heard of the band, but it was a cover of a song that took my knowledge to the next level. You may be thinking this album was from 2009…but since I live in the US and it’s US release date was 2010 it’s going on my list. Shoosh. How to describe this album. I don’t really know, all I know is that I like it…a lot. Just an all around solid album. I think lots of great albums are like that. I can def pick a song or two that get my heart pumping, but then the rest is like a blur of good music. So that’s what it is, a blur of great music.

“Sun Hands”

MGMT – Congratulations

A journey. That’s how I’d describe this album. Now to some this will come as a surprise and to those who actually appreciate great music you’ll agree with me with it’s placement here on my list. Now if you were a fan of MGMT’s hit album, “Oracular Spectacular“, then well….either you’re A) Going to HATE this album or B) Refer to my statement above about appreciating great music and you’ll love it.  While I agree, I usually hate when one of my favorite artists takes their music in a completely different direction. This difference here is they take it in an equally amazing direction. If you played their two albums back to back to someone who had no idea who MGMT was, they surely wouldn’t say it was the same band singing both. Don’t get me wrong, I thought their first album was SPECTACULAR…haha….but seriously one of the greatest albums I’ve ever heard. So it almost isn’t even fair to compare the two, maybe that’s why they took the direction they did with this album. Doesn’t matter, it stands on its own.

“Flash Delerium”
